To speed along the story, the posse choose to “skip” any major actions until Lucius’ next big fight. However, during the week, Lucius did ask Austin King for a trainer (which he gladly provided as a “favor”), Sterling sent a telegram to his patron, and Seamus spoke with various different saloons about entertainment on Sunday. (The new “big plan” for the posse was to tell their tale of the Burning Man while selling their supply of Rebel Yell whiskey – giving a kick-back to the saloon of course.) Sterling’s telegram read:
|HAVE PLANS. PLEASE ADVISE WHERE TO SEND. TWO SCALLYWAGS IN HOTEL ROOM. NO PROBLEM.|
The entire posse went with Lucius on Friday to see his next boxing match. It was a re-match with “Lightning” Jack Taylor. “Mongo” and “Lightning” Jack seemed equally matched for several rounds, evoking jeers from the crowd. It was then that Mr. King threw a bowie knife into the ring between the men and cried, “First blood!” Lucius quickly grabbed the knife and almost gutted poor “Lightning” Jack, winning the fight to the cheers of the crowd. In order to make up for his little surprise, Mr. King payed Lucius an additional $5 with the prize pot.
